Why choose Holiday session in the Algarve?
A holiday photoshoot in the Algarve exists for a simple reason: on most family trips, one person takes all the pictures and appears in none of them. The coast does not make it hard to find a backdrop. What makes it hard is the timing, because in high season the beaches fill by mid-morning and the sun turns everything flat. So the booking is 30 min at a single spot chosen by where your accommodation is, early or late, with the tide checked for your dates. Everyone gets dressed once, walks a bit, plays a bit, and is back for breakfast or dinner with the gallery due within 48h.
Where we photograph in the Algarve
Pick according to your base rather than the brochure, because driving across the region eats the session. From Lagos or Sagres, the obvious choice is Ponta da Piedade and its stacks. From Carvoeiro, Portimão or Albufeira, the arch at Praia da Marinha is close and recognisable to everyone back home. From Faro or Tavira, the Ria Formosa gives the eastern version of the Algarve: lagoon, sandbanks and salt pans instead of cliffs, with almost nobody in the frame. Each one fills half an hour on its own; adding a second stop just means time spent buckling children into car seats.
The best time in the Algarve
High summer leaves two usable slots, roughly seven in the morning and eight in the evening; between them the light falls straight down and the sand is crowded. Easter and late-spring holidays have longer, gentler evenings that suit families with small children. Half-term in late October is perhaps the best week of the year for this, with warm sea and a coast that has emptied. If your trip is in winter, a stormy January sky over the cliffs can give the most dramatic pictures of the year.

FAQ — Holiday session in the Algarve
Is the beach right in front of our hotel good enough?
Sometimes, but town beaches tend to be lined with buildings and sunbeds, which makes a clean picture hard. A short drive to open coastline is usually worth it. Tell us where you are staying and the photographer suggests the closest location that gives you rock, water and sky rather than a promenade.
Can we include a boat trip to the Benagil caves in the session?
Not within it. Benagil is reached only by boat or kayak, booked separately with an operator, and swimming access has been restricted. Many families do the trip on a different day and keep the photographs on land, where the half-hour is spent on them rather than on getting in and out of a boat.
What happens if one of the children is ill on the day?
Let the photographer know as early as you can. If your stay has another morning or evening free, the session moves there without charge. If it is your last day, you can go ahead with whoever is well, or move the booking to a future trip.
