Why choose Holiday session in Sintra?

A holiday photoshoot in Sintra is usually part of a day trip from Lisbon, twenty-five minutes away, and the trick is to fit it in before the day trip turns into a queue. Arrive mid-morning and head straight for Pena, and the hours go on lines; you can do it the other way round. Take 30 min first thing, in the forest above the village, while it is cool and often misty, and you leave with photographs of Sintra that look nothing like everyone else’s, plus a free day for sightseeing on your own tickets.

Where we photograph in Sintra

The forest road towards Peninha, with woodland on both sides and often a layer of cloud caught in the treetops. It is public and needs no ticket, so the session never competes with your palace booking. If you are staying near the coast or prefer the sea, Cabo da Roca at the end of the day is the alternative, best at sunset and twenty minutes from town. The palaces themselves are better visited than photographed professionally: written authorisation and fees apply to professional work, and Pena’s timed entry decides when you can be there. Snapshots on your own phone inside need nothing more than a ticket.

The best time in Sintra

Early morning, before ten, is the window for the forest. Between October and April that also brings your best chance of mist; in summer it brings cool air and an empty road, and still gets you to a palace slot afterwards. For Cabo da Roca, go late, with the sun dropping towards the ocean. Midday in July and August is the time to avoid: the village is packed, parking is scarce and the buses up the hill have queues.

What does the package include?

The package in Sintra covers: 15–20 retouched photographs; 30 minutes, one neighbourhood; Private gallery within 48 hours. Nothing is added to the price after the session.

FAQ — Holiday session in Sintra

Can we fit the session and Pena into the same day?

Yes, and that is the plan we suggest. Do the photo session early, then use your own timed ticket for Pena later in the morning or in the afternoon. Book the palace ticket in advance; in summer they sell out days ahead. The photographer will suggest a meeting point that leaves you close to your car or the bus for the next part of the day.

We don’t have a car. How do we reach the forest road?

A taxi from the train station or your hotel is the simplest option for an early start. The buses up to the palaces do run, but queues and timing make them unreliable for a fixed appointment. Tell us where you will be coming from and the photographer will pick a meeting point that is easy to reach and easy to leave.

Is the session still worth it on a clear, sunny day?

Yes, though the forest looks different: brighter, with light breaking through the leaves instead of mist. The photographer keeps you in open shade so faces are not patchy. On clear evenings Cabo da Roca becomes the stronger option. If you have more than one day in the area, mention it when booking and we will suggest which looks best.
