Why choose Destination wedding in the Algarve?

A destination wedding photographer in the Algarve has to work for people who plan from abroad and arrive a few days before. That is why the service includes a scouting visit the day before and 12 hours of coverage on the day itself: the photographer walks the venue and the portrait location at the right hour, checks the tide for the slot you want, and meets you before the wedding instead of during it. You also receive a written answer on what your ceremony requires legally in Portugal, which is the question couples most often get wrong when reading advice written for other countries. Couples who choose this coast tend to want the sea in the pictures without the ceremony depending on it. The planning here is built for exactly that compromise: the vows and the dinner stay where your venue has put them, and the coastline is brought in for a short, well-timed portrait slot that has already been rehearsed on the scouting day.

Where we photograph in the Algarve

The venue is yours and no recommendation is made here. What matters is how it relates to the coast. A clifftop venue can usually reach portrait spots on foot; one inland means deciding whether the sea is worth a short drive with the wedding party. Ponta da Piedade in the west and Praia da Marinha in the middle are the two strongest coastal frames, both at their best early or late. In the east, the Ria Formosa gives a flatter, quieter look that suits a calmer aesthetic. Faro has the region’s airport, so guests flying in are usually closer to the eastern side than they expect. On the scouting day the photographer also walks the route between the ceremony spot and the portrait spot, timing it with a bride in mind rather than a hiker, so the plan on paper matches what twenty minutes really allows in the shoes you will be wearing.

The best time in the Algarve

September and October are the months most couples aim for, with warm evenings, sea still swimmable for guests, and quieter roads. May and June also work, with long days and less heat. In July and August plan the ceremony late and keep the photography concentrated in the last hour of light; the middle of the day is unusable for portraits. Winter weddings are uncommon but give soft light all afternoon and rough seas. The scouting visit is timed to match your ceremony hour so the light is checked exactly. If guests are flying in for a long weekend, a Friday or Sunday wedding in shoulder season often frees up both the venue and the better hour.

What does the package include?

The package in the Algarve covers: 500 retouched photographs; Twelve hours of coverage, plus a scouting visit the day before; A written answer on what your ceremony does and does not require legally; Private gallery within three weeks. Nothing is added to the price after the session.

FAQ — Destination wedding in the Algarve

Our guests arrive the day before. Can the photographer cover a welcome evening?

The 12 hours on the wedding day is the core coverage; a welcome dinner or beach evening the day before can be added and is quoted in writing before you book. Because the scouting visit already happens that day, adding an hour or two in the evening is often practical.

How do we coordinate everything when we only arrive two days before?

The timing plan is agreed by video call and email about a month before, so arrival is about confirming rather than planning. The scouting visit then checks the venue light and portrait spot in person, and you meet the photographer there or at the venue at a time that suits you.

What is the backup if there is a storm on the wedding day?

Your venue’s indoor plan is the main backup and the photographer works from it. For portraits, a covered terrace, archway or doorway with soft daylight is found on the scouting visit. Winter storms on this coast are also dramatic, and short dry spells between showers often give the best light of the day. The photographer follows the forecast through the afternoon and uses any dry break for the two of you.
