Staying in Ponta Delgada with only a morning spare? Its black-and-white streets serve as a last resort requiring zero driving.
The best time in the Azores
Mornings, while lookouts are quiet and last night’s clear forecast is still holding. During July and August, when the island is busiest, an early start is the only way to have a rim to yourselves. Outside high season a mid-morning meeting can work well. The islands run an hour behind mainland Portugal, which makes an early session easier during the first days of a trip, while your body still thinks it is later. Your gallery appears within 48h, often before the flight home.

We are doing a road trip around the island. Can the photographer meet us on the way?
Within the served areas, yes: Ponta Delgada, Sete Cidades, Furnas, Nordeste, Ribeira Grande and Vila Franca do Campo. Send your overnight stops along with the booking, and the rendezvous is picked so the session slots into that day’s driving instead of dragging you back across the island.
Is a group of friends fine?
Yes. It is the same half hour and 15–20 photographs whether two people turn up or six. With a bigger crowd, the photographer runs through the full group first, then pairs and singles, briskly enough that everyone gets covered. For a really large party, ask about extended time, priced before you pay anything.
What if every morning of our stay is cloudy?
Then the session runs at Furnas, which sits in the plan precisely because it copes with any sky, not as second best. If even that gets washed out by a proper downpour, things shift to a later morning. Name your last free morning at the outset so the photographer can keep it open.
