Where we photograph in the Algarve
Your house or flat, whichever town in the region it is in; say where when booking so the photographer can plan the drive. The useful question is which room has the best indirect light. Many Algarve houses are built to keep the sun out, with small windows, thick walls and exterior shutters, so a south-facing window with a sheer curtain or a north-facing one with open shutters often beats the obvious room. A bed or sofa near that window is all the furniture needed. There is no studio involved and no props to buy; a plain blanket and the baby’s own clothes are enough.
The best time in the Algarve
The first two weeks are the target, because that is when babies sleep deeply and curl naturally. Within that window, mid-morning usually has the most even light indoors and fits between feeds. Summer brings one local issue: by early afternoon many rooms here get hot, and a newborn should not be undressed in a warm room for long, so a morning slot with shutters half closed is the comfortable choice. In winter, when houses without central heating can be cold, a small heater warming the room beforehand makes a real difference.

FAQ — Newborn session in the Algarve
Our house is quite dark. Will that be a problem?
Usually not, as long as there is one decent window. The photographer looks at the rooms on arrival and picks the brightest corner, often a bedroom or a doorway rather than the living room. Opening exterior shutters fully and switching off ceiling lights helps more than anything else.
We had the baby in Faro but live inland. Do you come out to us?
Yes, the session is at home wherever that is within the region; give the address when booking so the travel is planned and confirmed in advance. Inland villages are normally no harder than coastal towns, and the start time can be set to suit the drive and the baby. If you live in one of the hill villages behind the coast, give a landmark or a pin as well as the address; rural lanes are not always where a navigation app expects them to be.
Can grandparents visiting from abroad be included?
Yes, and it is a common reason families book. A few frames with grandparents holding the baby fit easily into the session, usually at the end once the baby is settled. Tell the photographer how many people will be at home so the room is planned for them.
