Why choose Newborn session in Coimbra?
A newborn photographer in Coimbra comes to you. Nobody needs to dress a two-week-old and carry them down a hill to a viewpoint, and none of this session uses the river or the university. It happens in your home, by your best window, at the pace of a baby who will feed, sleep and protest on their own schedule. That means 30 min of photographs with nothing hurried and nobody moved into a contrived pose. The city matters only in a practical way: the photographer is local, so a visit to a flat in the lower town, a house up near the university or a home in one of the nearby towns is an ordinary trip rather than an expedition.
Where we photograph in Coimbra
Your home, and one room in it. The photographer walks through on arrival and picks the space with the largest window and the softest light, usually a bedroom or the living room. Older Coimbra flats on the hill can have deep stone window reveals that make the light directional and lovely; newer buildings in the flatter parts of town tend to have wider windows and more even light. Both work. We also cover families in Condeixa-a-Nova, Montemor-o-Velho, Lousã, Aveiro and Figueira da Foz; tell us the address when you book.
The best time in Coimbra
The first two weeks after birth are when newborns sleep most deeply and curl most naturally, so book during the pregnancy and confirm once the baby arrives. Late morning is usually best, after a feed, with daylight already filling the room. In winter, when the sun stays low, south-facing rooms glow; in summer, a room facing away from the midday sun is gentler. The season itself barely matters, because the weather outside does not reach the session.
What does the package include?
The package in Coimbra covers: 15–20 retouched photographs; 30 minutes at your home, with natural light; Private gallery within 72 hours. Nothing is added to the price after the session.
FAQ — Newborn session in Coimbra
Our flat is small and quite dark. Will it work?
Almost always. The photographer needs one window and a couple of square metres near it, not a large room. Clear that corner before they arrive and switch off overhead lights, which tint skin yellow. If daylight is genuinely poor, a mid-morning slot on a bright day makes the most of what there is.
Can the session include our older children and our parents?
Yes. The usual order is the baby alone first, while they sleep, then parents, then siblings and grandparents towards the end. Family members visiting from elsewhere for the birth are an excellent reason to time the session while they are in Coimbra.
Do you use props or posing equipment?
No contraptions and nothing that puts a baby into an unnatural position. Bring a blanket or a wrap you love and the outfit you would like in a few frames. Everything else is the baby, your hands and the light from your window.
