Why choose Wedding in Sintra?

A wedding photographer in Sintra spends the day balancing two very different places. One is your venue, wherever the ceremony and the dinner happen; the other is the Serra, the forested hill that gives weddings here their look. Full coverage runs 10 hours, from getting ready to the first hour of the party, so there is room for both without squeezing the day. Much of the photographer’s value here is logistical: knowing what needs authorisation, how traffic on the hill behaves in season, and where twenty minutes of portraits can happen with no permit and no crowd.

Where we photograph in Sintra

The ceremony and the dinner take place wherever you have booked; we do not promise venues, and the photographer works with the one you choose. What we help decide is where the couple portraits go between the two. The forest road above the village is the usual answer: public, free and quiet. If you want a palace in the frame, Pena, Monserrate or the Castelo dos Mouros, plan it early, because Parques de Sintra require written authorisation and charge a fee for professional photography, and Quinta da Regaleira has its own process. Cabo da Roca is a further option for an evening portrait if your venue sits on the western side of the hill.

The best time in Sintra

Spring to early autumn is the obvious season, with long evenings and a dry hill, but the shoulder months make a strong case here. From October to April mist is common in the mornings, which gives remarkable getting-ready and first-look photographs if the day starts early. July and August bring clear skies and crowds, and with the historic centre close to shut to private cars, guest transport is affected as much as photography. In high summer, schedule portraits for the end of the afternoon, after the day visitors have headed home.

What does the package include?

The package in Sintra covers: 400 retouched photographs; Ten hours of coverage; A timing plan agreed a month beforehand; Private gallery within three weeks. Nothing is added to the price after the session.

FAQ — Wedding in Sintra

How do our guests get around if the centre is closed to cars?

That is a question for the venue and your planner, but it affects the photographs, so we raise it early. In the busy months, guests driving into the historic centre will struggle to park, and the hill buses fill up with visitors. A shuttle for guests solves most of it. The photographer needs the plan so that arrivals, which make lovely candid frames, are not missed while half the guest list sits in traffic.

Do we need a permit for portraits in the forest?

No. The Serra roads and open woodland are public, and a couple being photographed at the roadside needs no authorisation or ticket. Paperwork only begins if you want professional photographs inside palace grounds, where Parques de Sintra and Regaleira each run their own process and fee. We tell you which locations need what before you commit to any of them.

What if it’s foggy on our wedding day?

Then you get the photographs other couples ask for. Fog and rain are different things, and fog alone spoils nothing at close range; it turns a forest portrait into something quiet and enclosed. Where it does cause trouble is with distant views: Pena seen from below simply vanishes. The timing plan agreed a month ahead includes alternatives for exactly this, so nobody improvises in the car.
