There is no studio, no backdrop, no wicker basket and nothing to purchase. A quilt stitched by a grandmother, a cot handed down through cousins, or the view from a bedroom you love can all appear in frame. Visits cover the whole served area of the island, from Ponta Delgada out to Nordeste, so living rurally is no obstacle.
The best time in the Azores
Within the first two weeks, on a day fixed once the baby has arrived. Timing follows the feeding pattern rather than outdoor light, though midday usually brings most houses their broadest daylight. Season barely registers: a grey February morning lights a bedroom as well as July, sometimes better, because there is no direct sun slicing across the picture. Send the due date when you first get in touch, and if the baby comes early or the opening days prove hard, the appointment simply shifts.

Can the older sibling or the dog be included?
Yes, and near the start, while patience lasts on both sides. An older brother or sister is photographed with the baby first, then released to play. Pets are welcome in frames where a parent holds the newborn; nobody places an animal beside an infant lying on a bed, however gentle the dog.
