Why choose Maternity session in the Azores?
A maternity photoshoot in the Azores generally means one of two things: a babymoon on São Miguel with a session tucked inside it, or a woman living on the island who wants these weeks on record. Both lead to the same consideration. Between thirty and thirty-six weeks nobody should be scrambling along a slippery crater path or bracing against a cold gale for half an hour, so the places that flatter a bump here are not always the postcard ones. 30 min, one location, a short stroll from the car, and a sit-down whenever you fancy one.
Where we photograph in the Azores
The botanical garden at Terra Nostra, in Furnas, is the most comfortable option: a garden rather than a mountainside, so walking is easy, with deep greens and that ochre thermal pool as backdrop, for the price of an entry ticket. Beyond the gate, fumaroles by the lake give softer, misty frames for nothing. A crater view remains possible on a calm, bright day if a short walk appeals; Lagoa do Fogo suits a gentle pace better than summer crowds at Sete Cidades. For anyone who lives here, home is an option as well, beside your best window.
The best time in the Azores
Mid-morning is fine, which is unusual for an outdoor session: Furnas needs no low sun, and nobody should be hauled out of bed at dawn at thirty-four weeks. Wind and temperature matter more, since both change fast, and deciding the evening before lets you wait for a mild day. Summer is warmest, with hydrangeas lining the roads in June and July; in cooler months, a long dress over warm layers plus a coat between frames keeps things comfortable.
What does the package include?
The package in the Azores covers: 15–20 retouched photographs; 30 minutes, outdoors or at home; Private gallery within 48–72 hours. Nothing is added to the price after the session.
FAQ — Maternity session in the Azores
We are here on a babymoon. When in the trip should we do it?
Early, not on the final day. If your first chosen morning turns blustery or wet, the rest of your stay is there to absorb it, and moving costs nothing. Treat the end of the trip as reserve rather than plan, and share your flight dates while booking so the window can be built around them.
What should I wear with the weather here?
Something fitted that shows the shape, in a colour that holds against green: deep red, navy, ochre or white. Bring a warm layer and walkable shoes, changing only for the frames. Long flowing fabric looks lovely in the garden at Furnas and becomes a battle on a crater rim, so match the outfit to the place once it is decided.
Is the steam at Furnas a problem in pregnancy?
The session never takes you into the steam or near the hottest ground; the photographer works from where visitors walk and treats the vapour as background. If the sulphur smell bothers you, and on some days it is strong, say so, and everything stays inside the garden or moves elsewhere.
