Why choose Honeymoon session in Coimbra?
Few people put a honeymoon photoshoot in Coimbra on the plan, and those who do tend to be glad of it. After a wedding where every minute was scheduled, the city’s slowness is a relief: no crowd to work around, no early alarm needed to get a viewpoint to yourselves. The session asks nothing of you beyond turning up. Somewhere in the week or two after the wedding, the photographer meets you for 30 min, picks the angle, and leaves you with fifteen to twenty pictures of the two of you as newly married people rather than as the centre of a large event.
Where we photograph in Coimbra
Our default meeting point is the riverside park facing the old town, on the left bank of the Mondego. You get space, grass, the water, and Coimbra layered up the hill behind you. For something more enclosed and textured, the alternative is the long granite staircase that leads from the lower town up to the university, where shade and stone make close portraits feel quiet and private. Pick whichever matches the mood of the trip. We leave the university terrace out of this one; it is ticketed and busy with day visitors.
The best time in Coimbra
Evening, if you are on the riverside: the last hour of sun lands squarely on the hill and on your faces. In autumn that comes early enough to fit before dinner; in late spring you will eat late. Mornings belong to the staircase, which stays in shade and is nearly empty before visitors start the climb. Whatever the month, a weekday is calmer, and the student week of the Queima das Fitas in late May is best avoided.
What does the package include?
The package in Coimbra covers: 15–20 retouched photographs; 30 minutes, one location; Private gallery within 48 hours. Nothing is added to the price after the session.
FAQ — Honeymoon session in Coimbra
Should I wear the wedding dress again?
Some brides do, and on the riverbank a long dress moving in the breeze is lovely. Others are glad to be in something simpler and more like themselves on holiday. Either works; tell the photographer which, so the spot and the walk to it suit what you are wearing.
How far ahead do we need to book?
For most of the year a week or two is plenty, because Coimbra is quiet and photographers are not stretched. The exception is the Queima das Fitas week in May, when the whole city is booked months ahead; if your trip falls then, book as soon as the dates are fixed.
Can we bring a bottle for a toast?
A small, discreet picnic in a public park is a normal thing to do, and a toast often gives the most relaxed photographs of the session. Bring two glasses and keep it simple, since half an hour passes quickly and the light will not wait for a full spread.
