Where we photograph in Lisbon
Evening couples go to the river, to the quay at Santo Amaro directly beneath Ponte 25 de Abril, facing west along the Tagus. The bridge supplies scale, the waterfront supplies space to wander hand in hand, and as the sun sinks the light skims across the water and onto your faces rather than down onto your heads. Morning couples go up instead, to Senhora do Monte, the loftiest of Lisbon’s lookouts, which at seven has the whole city laid out underneath and usually nobody else at the railing; with the sunrise at your backs, the roofs and the castle glow and neither of you has to squint. These two are opposites and cannot share a session. Choose the one that fits your body clock, not the one you saw first on someone’s feed.
The best time in Lisbon
September belongs to the river: the warmest evening colour of the year, and still warm enough to leave coats behind. October and November flatter either end of the day, and hardly anyone books them, so the lookout and the dock both feel private. Summer is fine as long as you accept its timetable — up the hill before seven, down by the water after seven in the evening. August is the one to pass on, hot and packed and with half of Lisbon away. On a crisp winter morning the sun stays low for hours, which takes the pressure off the alarm clock.

FAQ — Couple session in Lisbon
We are staying in the Baixa. Is the river or the viewpoint easier to reach?
Both are a short ride away. The lookout sits at the top of Graça, so a taxi at dawn saves your legs and keeps your clothes fresh; the dock is west of Cais do Sodré along the riverside. Your photographer sends an exact map pin the evening before, so you are not hunting for each other.
Can we bring a bottle of wine or flowers as props?
Yes, and something to hold usually helps couples who do not know what to do with their hands. Keep it to one or two things you would actually carry. On the quay a picnic blanket works well; at the viewpoint, with the low wall and the drop, keep it simpler.
What happens if the evening turns grey?
Light cloud is fine and kinder to skin than hard sun. If it is properly raining, the session is moved to another evening or morning you have free — which is why it helps to tell us your whole stay when booking rather than one fixed date.
