A garden or a row of vines at the quinta where you are staying can be lovely too, if the estate agrees and the ground is even; tell us when booking. São Leonardo de Galafura is not ruled out, but weigh the uneven surface and the exposure before choosing it. If your home in the region has a window with soft side light, the session can happen there instead, and the landscape becomes a view through the glass.
The best time in the Douro
Spring and the weeks after the harvest are best. April and May are green and mild; late October and November bring colour to the vines and cooler air. July and August are hard work: the valley holds heat with no breeze, and a pregnant body feels it first. Whatever the month, put outdoor sessions near the start or the end of the day. Count back from your due date when choosing, and leave room to shift it, because plans in the last weeks change.

Can we combine this with a stay at a quinta?
That is a natural way to plan it. Choose the estate first, ask whether photographs in its grounds are welcome, and book the session for your second or third morning, once the drive is behind you and you have rested. Outside the harvest the estates are calmer and more likely to say yes.
Which clothes look right against the vines?
Something close-fitting that follows the curve of your body, in a tone chosen against the season: cream or deep blue against green leaves, soft greys against autumn reds. Walk in flat shoes and change only for the frames, if you want to at all. A light layer helps on an October morning.
What if I feel too uncomfortable on the day?
Say so, and we rebook. The final weeks of a pregnancy are unpredictable and nobody expects you to push through heat or tiredness for a photograph. We would much rather reschedule within your window, or switch to a session at home, than turn 30 min into an endurance test.
