Why choose Proposal session in Cascais?

A proposal photographer in Cascais has one job before anything else: to be invisible until the ring is out. That is easier here than in most of Lisbon, because the bay and the seafront are places where people stand around with cameras anyway, and a lone figure with a long lens draws no attention. The moment is photographed from a distance, then the photographer walks over and the remaining minutes of the 30 min become a short session of the two of you. Cascais also gives the planner a plausible excuse – lunch by the sea, a walk after the train ride – that does not sound like a set-up.

Where we photograph in Cascais

The spot has to satisfy two people at once: it has to look good, and the photographer has to be able to hide near it. The bay works well for both. The fishing boats on the sand and the old town behind give a recognisable frame, and the promenade around it offers plenty of cover. The marina is the evening option, with a clear western sky and enough people strolling that nobody looks twice. Boca do Inferno is the most dramatic setting within easy reach of Lisbon on a rough day, but it is noisy, and spray reaches places you would not expect; stand well back from the edge with a ring in your hand.

The best time in Cascais

Choose the hour by the spot. Thanks to its southern aspect the bay still looks bright and soft at half past ten, so a proposal before lunch is a genuine option there rather than a second-best. The marina is best at sunset. Boca do Inferno needs late afternoon and a swell, so look at the forecast before committing. Guincho is technically possible, but the only usable time is early morning, and asking someone to a windswept beach at eight without a reason is the quickest way to ruin a surprise.

What does the package include?

The package in Cascais covers: 15–20 retouched photographs; Location and timing scouted in advance; Photographed unseen, then a few minutes together afterwards; Private gallery within 48 hours. Nothing is added to the price after the session.

FAQ — Proposal session in Cascais

How will the photographer know which couple is us?

You agree on a fixed point and a fixed minute the day before, and you send a photo of yourself and a description of what your partner will be wearing. On the day the photographer is in place early, and you only need to stop at the agreed point at the agreed time.

What if the bay is crowded on the day?

In summer the beach fills from mid-morning, but the promenade and the edges of the bay are wider than the patch of sand people sit on. A crowd actually helps a hidden photographer. The scouting done in advance includes an alternative angle within a few metres in case someone sits in the planned spot.

Can we do it at Guincho at sunset?

Rarely. In the warmer months the north wind peaks after lunch and keeps going into the evening, whipping sand along the beach – hardly the soundtrack for a question you have rehearsed for weeks. If Guincho is the place that means something to you, plan for the morning and build a reason for being there that early.
